it always makes me laugh when they set them up and finally reveal that the mysterious new modern artists they have raved over is really a chimpanzee let loose with tubes of paint.. for me an artist is someone who makes art.

i have read a lot of books about spirituality, religion and self-awareness.
the one major problem i have with christianity (and despite the fact that people may suggest that i am just turned off by being raised as a jw.... i think that my point would be valid without having experienced that negative start to life).. the one common premise of christianity is that we are sinners at birth and that we need salvation, otherwise we are disrespecting god.
i have also read other books that use the premise at the exact opposite end of the spectrum...... namely that we are perfect at birth and that we, through choice, use prejudisms and negative thought patterns that end up making this "sinner" theory more believable.. i'm not suggesting that either of these theories is absolutley correct, but i choose to lean more towards the "perfect at birth" theory.
Why I will never be a Christian is because it is divisive, hateful and hypocritical to name a few. I don't need someone telling me that in order to be a good human being, I have to follow an out of date theology. Living life to the fullest and doing good to others is my religion and the most divine thing a person can do. I have said it before, if Christianity is the only true way, may I be struck down dead this very instant.

today, i had a nice and interesting conversation with a christian that came to my door from a nearby church.
i wanted to blow them off and get back to my football game, but the vikes were playing flat, so i decided to humor him.. the guy showed me this pamphlet about how the bible's made for all mankind, so i asked him the fundimental question "if the bible was made for by all mankind, why was it written only by jews and why does it use isrealeo-centric language?
the man was dumbfounded to say the least and he walked from my door.

The PBS documentary "From Jesus to Christ" discusses the cruxifixion. They say that in 1968 they excavated a body that was cruxified by the Romans. What they say is that it was an upright beam with a cross beam running across the top, more like a T. So neither theories are correct.

According to Ray Franz, around 1975 he pressed for the GB to make an apology to the rank and file. It wasn't until about 1981 that they acknowledged part of their deception with an article in the WT.

The Germans that fought in the 2 World War thought that God was on their side just as much as the British and American's did. I know by watching all the news reels and talking to veterans. It is tragic when some leader tells you that God is blessing you and to go out and kill your fellow humans. Same can be said about those "insurgents" in Iraq. They feel just as religiously that God is on their sides as much as their American occupiers. Do you wonder why I have no use for religion?

That?s why I find Christianity hypocritical and inconsistent. The Jews of the Old Testament were very war like, whereas the Jesus of the New Testament was very pacify and taught an opposite message of loving ones neighbor.
I choose not to have guns or weapons in my house. However if anyone broke in I would do what ever I could do to defend myself. I choose to use other means besides violence to resolve differences in my life.
A good example was last night I was at my local pub and some puke sitting over at the next table that I didn't even know started to mouth of to me. At first I didn't know he was talking to me. If I was back in the 5th grade or had an IQ of a potato, I would have walked over and confronted him. All that would have done was escalated the situation and someone would have got hurt or maybe killed. I did not empower the AS by responding, I just ignored him and he eventually went away. Although if he would have came over to my table it would have been a different story. I know some here would think that is chicken but if I ended up dead, where would have gained me. As

I recall this so well as if it was yesterday. My dad was a non believer in those days and there was an older sister, in her 50's, that would study with our family and she would say the same thing. It could have been the same article. I remember her stressing to not get a higher education because we would not graduate high school in this system. That article is now 35 years old and that sister has been dead and buried years ago. My sister, who is still a good dub, when I raise this question about all the hype, claims that she doesn't remember. It has taken me years to get the WT brain washing crap out of my head. This is one reason why I have no use for religion.
